Polycystic kidney disease (PKD) Is?

PKD stands for Polycystic kidney disease. It is a genetic disorder that cannot be controlled individually. PKD can also cause kidney failure. Wondering how, because it leads to the development of cysts in the kidneys. Despite age, gender, and race, it affects every human body equally. The types of PKD are broadly classified as ADPKD and ARPKD, autosomal dominant, and autosomal recessive polycystic kidney disease, respectively.

The recessive polycystic kind of disorder is a rare condition. The study says that it occurs in 1 child in every 20,000 children all around the world. When we talk about the dominant type of polycystic kidney disease, it is the more common type and harms over millions of people all around the world, study says.

When the cysts accumulate in the kidneys, it becomes more significant than its actual size due to the inflammation. The cysts can be as large as an average muskmelon or as small as a pinhead. Polycystic kidney disease treatment in Ayurveda can help in halting it’s progression. Ayurveda works best on the human body and treats kidney disease at any level. Ayurveda has a cure for the failed kidney, as well.

Causes and symptoms of PKD

Polycystic kidney disease is caused by a gene mutation. Sometimes the genes develop inside the body on its own, whereas sometimes the mutation is caused by the genes of parents. The mutation that occurs on its own is known as a spontaneous mutation.

Earlier, we have talked about two types of PKD, so the causes of it are also a little different. Autosomal dominant polycystic kidney disease is also called adult PKD. There are 50% chances of developing this disease if your one parent carries PKD genes. The person can notice the symptoms of ADPKD when he or she comes to the age of 30 to 40. It is no hard and fast rule though the symptoms can be experienced in childhood as well.

Talking about Autosomal Recessive PKD, it is caused when both the parents carry PKD genes. If you get one gene from each parent, you will get ARPKD, and this is why it is said that it is a rare disease.

Some of the much known symptoms of PKD are pain, kidney failure, and high blood pressure. It is possible not to notice signs or symbols of PKD because the signs stay noticeable until it reaches half inches or maybe larger. These signs can turn to complications in no time. Some people may witness the symptoms later in childhood or adulthood. These signs help in the prognosis of disease to some extent, but the ayurvedic treatment of PKD can help you treat it better.

Complications associated with PKD

What is worst than having a disease? It is, getting more illnesses associated with it. This is called the complications of any disorder. If you do not provide timely treatment to PKD, it can lead to certain complications.

These are as follow-

  • PKD can lead to hypertension. If you leave this hypertension untreated, it will further damage your heart.
  • No doubt, loss of kidney function is a complication. By the age of 60, you may lose your kidney as a whole if PKD did not get its treatment on time.
  • Kidney failure caused due to PKD can increase the level of toxins in your body and can cause uremia.
  • PKD can lead to pregnancy complications. It can cause a deadly condition in women called preeclampsia.
  • It can also cause heart valve abnormalities in humans. It happens in 1 of 4 people with PKD, and this situation valve loses its capacity to close properly. Due to this, the blood begins to flow in the backward direction.
  • PKD causes chronic pain inside or back.
  • The cysts start to grow in the liver. This problem is high in females as their hormones contribute more to cyst development.
  • Sacs in the colon walls begin to form. PKD also causes weakness.
  • PKD may lead to the formation of a balloon-like
  • Bump in the blood vessels of the brain.

Prognosis of PKD might help in preventing the progression with the help of ayurvedic treatment. It is better to prevent all these complications rather than curing them when the damage has been done already.
