It is the tropical fruit just like other fruits: mango, jackfruit, and banana. It is known by other names such as sapodilla plum, chikoo, and sapote. Sapota is an evergreen tree that has sapodilla/chikoo as fruit. It is a sweet delicacy that is rich in vitamin C, A, E, copper, and iron. Sapodilla is rich with antioxidant components; and because of these components, sapodilla/ chikoo is considered as a fruit with several health, skin and hair benefits. Things to keep in mind while consuming Sapodilla:
- Sapodilla should be taken by keeping the age factor in mind. Children below the age of 8 and adults with the age more than 60 should consume half a chikoo at a time. The total consumption should not be more than two Sapodillas in a day.
- Overeating can invite the diseases related to the stomach and may cause stomach ache.
- Do not eat Sapodilla when suffering from cold, cough, flu and diarrhea.
- Sapodilla is rich in calories, if consumed in high amount then there are possibilities of getting caught by the disease obesity.
- A diabetic patient is recommended to avoid the consumption of Sapodilla/chikoo. It contains 14% of sugar levels that can be harmful to the patient.
- There should be at least two hours of time gap between the consumption of Sapodilla seed powder.
