What Should Be the Ideal Routine for Kidney Patients?

Maintaining a healthy routine is a necessity these days. Not only do kidney patients need it the most but everyone. You should strictly follow an ideal routine that cannot be broken by you even when you set it. Although it may not be possible for a kidney patient to set his daily routine on his own. Do not worry because Karma Ayurveda Hospital is presenting ‘What should be the ideal routine for kidney patients?’ We have discussed the ideal diet for a kidney patient and patients with dialysis previously in our blogs. But we rarely discussed their routine; so, read thoroughly for massive changes.

What a kidney patient would generally begin his day with?

A kidney patient must be beginning his day by getting up and freshen up himself but it is not what we are going to talk about. We would be talking about the changes in the lifestyle and a little bit about the changes in the dietary pattern that a kidney patient should make in his life for the rejuvenation of kidneys.

Get up early in the morning

Since our childhood days, we grew up in an environment where our elders have explained to us with different reasons to get up early. With accurate information, getting up early is scientifically proven as one of the ways of keeping the body healthy. The rays coming out from the sunrise provides positive energy that helps in fighting various germs and bacteria that may have found a surface on our body.

The Ayurvedic approach:

As per the Ayurvedic texts, a time before 6:00 Hours is a time of Kapha that sets heaviness in. You must have sensed at some point in life that whenever we sleep our body doesn’t make us feel weighed. Try the next time if you have not already.

Set yourself free of toxins and wastes

The next step you should do is free up your body from all the toxins and waste that the body has filtered or produced at night. The process would go like this:

  • Urinate: It would be the first thing that anyone would do after getting up. If not then he should urinate forcefully.
  • Excrete and clean your bowel: It is also a necessary thing that every individual should do to keep his body maintained and detoxified.
  • Oil it out: It may be strange for you to read and believe but it is a necessary step that should not be left by kidney patients especially in any case. Take a tablespoon of coconut oil, olive oil or sesame oil in your mouth swish it for 60 seconds continuously. It helps in pulling out the germs and bacteria that may have developed during the night.
  • Brushing: After cleaning the bowls and oiling it is the time to take care of your mouth. Brush your teeth normally as you do and make sure to clean your tongue with a tongue cleaner.

The Ayurvedic approach:

This step is recommended because at night the lunar energy becomes prominent that calms and soothes the body. Excreting out all the waste is important because during and after the sunrise, the body moves into the absorption cycle. If you continue to carry the former waste then it will affect your immunity.

Go out for a walk

After freeing yourself from wastes and toxins, make sure to go for a walk but remember brisk-walking is not good for you. Brisk walking may become a reason for the elevated levels of creatinine and associated kidney problems.

The Ayurvedic approach:

Ayurvedic texts suggest that brisk walking not only elevates the levels of waste in the body but the vigorousness also becomes responsible for irregular heartbeat and blood pressure.

Focus on a ritual of Abhyanga:

Abhyanga or self-massage is a beneficial way of stimulating the body. Abhyanga also helps in toning, moisturizing, and cleansing the body from within. Warm any lemongrass essential oil and apply it on your body after bathing. Bathing is a necessity that a human body cannot resist and should be followed by kidney patients without skipping.

Practice yoga asana

Yoga is the sacred initiation of the well being of the human body. It meets all the balanced levels of different states in the human body. Yoga stimulates the body from within and regulates healthy blood flow. It includes breathing exercises (Pranayam), bending and stretching of the body in favourable ways. Yoga has been an ancient remedy to cure all kidney problems. It brings discipline in the lives of the diseased.

After a yogic session, the body needs some time to relax and calm the pumping muscles. So, the next step is to concentrate and divert the energy in the good and synchronized divisions in the body (channels).

Fill up the appetite

After exercising, bending and stretching a body needs something to eat for driving the body to places. So, having breakfast would be recommended. Make sure to have a kidney-friendly diet. If you are unaware of such a diet then seek the guidance of the best team of dieticians at Karma Ayurveda Hospital. You will be guided to have only those specific foods and beverages that can help in the reincarnation of the kidneys in natural ways. Divide your meals into small proportions and intervals so that the body remains filled; neither overly filled nor underfilled.

Proceed with Sadvritta

Sadvritta, the name itself is self-explanatory. It is a good code of conduct that helps in living with simplicity and healthily. In this type of living, there is no sign of emotional overflow. It only acquires your positive and calm attitude towards life and people. It will help in reducing stress and anguishes.

Sleep early

Sleeping early can provide multiple benefits. Starting with, it will allow you to have enough hours of sleep, and will be easier for you to get up early in the morning to follow the routine specially designed for kidney patients.

A note from Karma Ayurveda Hospital:

Kidneys are the sensitive organs of the human body. They may look small in size but help in ceasing all the diseases invading the human circulatory & nervous system. Try to conquer all the kidney problems at the initial stages itself to prevent the loss and suffering of kidney diseases. Following a healthy or Ayurvedic routine can bring revolutionary changes in the lives of a kidney patient.
